Rosé has the ability to take any event, gathering, or even just a simple meal to the next level. A glass or two… or three, if you’re like us, never fails to add a touch of enjoyment, luxury, and sophistication to pretty much any situation. I can’t recall a single moment that wasn’t made better when we cracked open a bottle of rosé. From relaxing on the beach to cuddling up by a fire on a cold winter evening (don’t believe the myth, rosé’s not just for summer), there’s a rosé out there for every occasion.
Taking in the sun, sand, sea, and surf on a warm day at the beach
The saying that “life’s better at the beach” has become widely popular because quite frankly, life is better at the beach. It’s a treat to trade in busy city streets or the suburbs for tan lines and salty ocean air. The beach exudes relaxation in the same way that a glass of wine helps you to unwind at the end of a long day.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that the ultimate combination is enjoying a glass wine at the beach. For us, the perfect trip to the beach can be achieved with a very simple formula: hot sun, sparkling sea and a chilled glass of wine. Forget your piña colada; go for a summery rosé to take the edge off the heat.
Suggested wine: Try Château Léoube’s 2014 Rosé de Léoube. These vines are planted by the side of the Mediterranean and benefit from the cool sea breeze as they grow, producing the perfect wine for seaside drinking. The nose of exotic fruits will provide refreshment, whilst the exceptionally chic bottle will give you an air of casual sophistication.
Best paired with: A tropical fruit salad – think pineapple, passion fruit and mango, with a cool slice of watermelon on the side.
Crack open a bottle to take any date night up a notch
Luxurious, sparkling, decadent, and enticing are all trigger words that can be used to describe the perfect date. These same words can also be used to describe the perfect bottle of rosé. What suggests extravagance and romance better than something sparkling and pink? Run a luxurious bubble bath and light some candles before popping the cork on a bottle of rosé fizz.
Suggested wine: Go for La Maitresse by Provençal vineyard Le Grand Clos for a satisfyingly fruity mouthful. This sparkling rosé is made with the traditional ‘methode champenoise’, and provides a flavorsome (and cheaper) alternative to champagne.
Best paired with: A bowl of ripe strawberries, ideally dipped in chocolate.
